The Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof Richard Kofi Asiedu, has criticized the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for imposing severe economic hardship on Ghanaians.

Speaking to party supporters at Asikuma in the Central Region, Prof Asiedu attributed the current struggles of ordinary citizens to the sharp rise in fuel prices and the mismanagement of the economy by the NPP government.

“The suffering of Ghanaians today stems from the unchecked hikes in fuel prices under this administration. When the NDC left office, fuel prices were at GHS 14, and the cedi was performing well against the dollar at GHS 3.

Today, the story is one of pain and frustration,” he stated.

He specifically addressed drivers, lamenting the financial strain they endure daily.

“Drivers are finding it hard to meet their family needs because every penny they earn goes into buying fuel. The high cost of goods and services is unbearable, making life extremely difficult for everyone,” he said.

Prof Asiedu charged drivers and all Ghanaians to reject the NPP at the polls, emphasizing that the party has failed to deliver on its promises.

He assured voters that the NDC, under the leadership of John Dramani Mahama, has the solutions to rescue the nation from the current economic crisis.

“The NDC remains the only party capable of salvaging this nation from the mess created by the NPP.

Under John Mahama’s leadership, Ghanaians will experience better governance and economic relief when we return to power on December 7, 2025,” he said.
