C/R: Police arrest suspect in Dabanyin highway robbery

The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with a robbery attack that took place in the early hours of Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Dabanyin, near Gomoa Buduatta Junction.
The suspect, identified as Mohammed Bello, is believed to be part of a five-member gang that robbed several drivers and passengers of their personal belongings around 12:30 a.m.
Following his arrest, a search conducted on Bello led to the recovery of several stolen items, including:
GH₵3,740.00 in cash
Two Samsung smartphones
One Tecno Spark 20 phone
One Itel keypad phone
One Itel power bank
A lady's purse
Five sticks of cigarettes
A wristwatch
A headset
A mobile phone charger
A pair of sandals identified by one of the victims
The suspect is currently in police custody and assisting with investigations.
The police say intelligence-led operations are ongoing to apprehend the four remaining members of the gang.
Four victims who sustained gunshot wounds during the robbery are currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
They have expressed appreciation to the Police Command for the swift arrest and the commitment to bring the rest of the perpetrators to justice.
Meanwhile, the Central East Regional Police Command is calling on members of the public who may have been affected by the incident to report to the Command to assist in investigations.
The Command has assured the public that every effort is being made to arrest all accomplices and ensure they face the full force of the law.
