Tamale Technical University students clash with police over fee hikes

Scores of students of Tamale Technical University (TaTU) have sustained varying degrees of injuries following clashes with police during a protest on campus.
The students were demonstrating against what they described as neglect, misappropriation, mismanagement of school funds, and an unjustified increment in fees.
Tensions flared when police attempted to disperse the protesters, leading to violent confrontations.
Several students were reportedly injured in the ensuing chaos.
The demonstration was organised to demand accountability from the university’s management and a reversal of the fee hikes, which students argue have worsened the financial burden on them and their families.
As of press time, neither the university’s management nor the police had issued an official statement on the incident.
