Bawumia leads NPP presidential primary with 47% - Global Info

Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has taken a commanding lead in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries, securing 47 per cent of delegate support, according to the latest poll by Global Info Analytics.
The results, published on the organisation’s official social media platforms on Monday, September 29, position him as the clear front-runner in the party’s internal contest.
The poll, however, also revealed a significant share of delegates remain undecided, raising questions about how the race may shift in the coming weeks.
While Dr Bawumia continues to enjoy the confidence of nearly half of the delegates surveyed, the findings suggest there is room for movement in the contest as aspirants intensify their campaigns.
Businessman and former Assin Central legislator Kennedy Agyapong emerged as the Vice President’s closest challenger, but the data indicates he has not been able to fully capitalise on Dr Bawumia’s dip in support.
Analysts argue that unless Mr Agyapong can convert undecided delegates to his side, Dr Bawumia’s lead will remain difficult to overturn.
Global Info Analytics stated that the figures highlight both the former Vice President’s dominance and the fluidity of the primaries as delegates weigh their options.
With the NPP’s flagbearership contest expected to shape the party’s strategy for the 2028 general election, observers say the eventual outcome will be crucial in determining the strength of the governing party heading into the national polls.
