President John Dramani Mahama has extended a formal invitation to the military leaders of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger to participate in the launch of the 50th-anniversary celebrations of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), scheduled for April 22, 2025, in Accra.

The landmark event, which will be held at the Accra International Conference Centre, is set to bring together dignitaries from across the region and international partners to reflect on ECOWAS's five decades of promoting trade, infrastructure development, regional integration, and peacekeeping efforts.

President Mahama’s invitation to the transitional leaders of the three countries is seen as a gesture aimed at fostering renewed dialogue and unity within the bloc, especially amidst ongoing political transitions and tensions in parts of the sub-region.

The Golden Jubilee launch is expected to underscore the significance of regional cooperation in addressing common challenges and advancing sustainable development across West Africa.

Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa, made this announcement at a press conference held in Accra today.
