NPP suspends Tamale North Constituency Chairman amidst allegations of anti-party behaviour
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has suspended the Constituency Chairman for Tamale North, Alhaji Mohammed Fuseini Sadat, following allegations of misconduct that allegedly violated the party's Constitution.
In a letter dated January 25, 2025, signed by the Northern Regional Chairman, Mohammed Adam Baantima Samba, the decision was reached after a petition from concerned polling station executives outlined a series of allegations against Alhaji Sadat.
The petition, by the concerned executives among other things, accused the chairman of acts including:
1. Shooting and injuring Mr. Karim Alhassan, a polling station organizer, on January 17, 2025.
2. Threatening constituency executives at gunpoint during a meeting.
3. Leading armed thugs to seize a vehicle from the driver of a Parliamentary Candidate.
4. Orchestrating a break-in at the private business centre of a former Parliamentary Candidate, leading to the theft of valuables, including fertilizers and streetlights.
5. Making false accusations and using offensive language against party members.
6. Engaging in acts of violence and intimidation.
The Regional Executive Committee unanimously resolved to suspend Mr. Sadat from his position, citing breaches of Articles 4(7)(1b) and 4(7)(1g) of the party's Constitution.
The suspension takes immediate effect and will remain in place pending the outcome of investigations by the Regional Disciplinary Committee.
Alhaji Sadat has therefore been directed to cooperate with the Disciplinary Committee, Refrain from any activities or representation on behalf of the party, and Hand over party belongings to the Constituency executive committee.
The NPP has assured that the disciplinary processes will be carried out thoroughly, urging the suspended chairman to respect the decision of the Regional Executive Committee
