Peter Kwakye-Ackah withdraws independent candidature from parliamentary race
Amenfi Central Constituency Member of Parliament in the Western Region, Mr Peter Yaw Kwakye-Ackah, has officially withdrawn his independent bid in the 2024 parliamentary election, ending his run as an independent candidate.
The announcement, made in a press statement dated November 18, 2024, cited the recent High Court and Electoral Commission ruling, which confirmed the NDC’s candidate as eligible to contest, as a primary reason for his decision.
According to Kwakye-Ackah, the High Court’s decision effectively resolved the issues that prompted his initial decision to run independently.
He expressed his gratitude to the party’s elders and other leaders for their guidance, stating that their counsel ultimately influenced his decision to prioritize the unity and interests of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over personal ambition.
“I wish to inform the good people of Amenfi Central and the general public of my decision to withdraw my independent candidature from the 2024 Amenfi Central Parliamentary election forthwith,” Kwakye-Ackah stated in his release.
In closing, he reaffirmed his commitment to the NDC and expressed optimism for the future, extending well-wishes for the NDC’s success in Amenfi Central and nationwide.
