AFCON 2025 qualifiers: See Black Stars 25-man squad including 2 new additions
Coach Otto Addo has announced a 25-man squad for the Black Stars' upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group F qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
- Goalkeepers: Ati Zigi Lawrence, Manaf Nurudeen, Jojo Wollacott
- Defenders: Alidu Seidu, Tariq Lamptey, Jonas Adjetey, Nathaniel Adjei, Djiku Alexander, Jerome Opoku, Gideon Mensah, Isaac Afful, Razak Simpson
- Midfielders: Elisha Owusu, Abu Francis, Ibrahim Sulemana, Baidoo Michael, Kudus Mohammed, Emmanuel Antwi
- Attackers: Ibrahim Osman, Nuamah Ernest, Semenyo Antoine, Jordan Ayew, Inaki Williams, Fatawu Issahaku, Joseph Paintsil
On X, Thursday, November 7, 2024, when the announcement was made, it was noted, also, Emmanuel Antwi, and Razak Simpson, were new additions to the squad.
Former captain Thomas Partey was not called. He missed two games against Sudan last month. Kudus wore the captain's band while he was away. However, per Addo's directives, Kudus will hand over the captaincy to Jordan Ayew for the next games.
To qualify for the Morocco 2025 AFCON tournament, Ghana must secure victories against Angola and Niger, while hoping Sudan drops points in their final matches.
The Black Stars face Angola in Luanda on Friday, November 15. They host Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, November 18.
