Air Ghana expands regional fleet with third Boeing 737-400 freighter
Air Ghana has taken delivery of a third Boeing 737-400 Freighter, registered as 9G-KCT, as part of a strategic push to deepen its logistics footprint across West Africa.
The additional aircraft is expected to bolster the airline's cargo capacity and improve operational efficiency along critical regional trade corridors.
The Boeing 737-400F, a member of the Classic series, was originally a passenger aircraft before its conversion for cargo use.
Known for its cost-effectiveness and reliability on short- to medium-haul routes, the model has become a staple for regional operators managing diverse logistics networks.
Air Ghana officials noted that the increased payload capacity comes at a time of rising demand for air freight services within the sub-region.
Operating for over 30 years, Air Ghana evolved from a logistics and ground-handling firm into a full-fledged cargo carrier, officially securing its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) in 2014.
Today, the company positions itself as an integrated provider, managing shipments from ground handling and warehousing through to final delivery.
The expansion is funded entirely by private investment, as Air Ghana remains a privately owned entity with no government involvement.
Holding designated national cargo airline status, the company maintains that its growth is driven by market demand and institutional strengths, including global airline collaborations and strategic infrastructure.
Industry analysts suggest the new fleet addition signals Air Ghana's intent to play a more central role in continental trade.
Efficient air freight services are increasingly viewed as essential for supply chains under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), and this latest acquisition positions the airline to better facilitate these regional trade flows.
