GPHA, NPA collaborate to launch 24-Hour operations at Tema oil jetty

The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) on Thursday, August 21, 2025, hosted a delegation from the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) at the Port of Tema in the Greater Accra Region to assess preparations for night-time operations at the oil jetty.
The delegation, led by NPA Chief Executive Godwin Edudzi Tamaklo and accompanied by Abass Tasunti, Director for Economic Regulation & Planning at NPA, inspected facilities to determine readiness for round-the-clock operations.
The initiative forms part of the government’s 24-hour economy policy, which seeks to boost productivity by enabling continuous operations across key sectors, including the petroleum downstream industry.
Welcoming the team, the Director of Port–Tema, Tebon Zumah, commended the NPA for the move, stressing that it aligns with Ghana’s broader economic transformation agenda.
As part of the collaboration, the NPA and GPHA are upgrading the lighting infrastructure at the oil jetty to ensure safe berthing and discharge of petroleum vessels during night hours.
All necessary works are expected to be completed by September 2025, paving the way for full 24/7 operations at the Tema oil jetty.
