GRIDCo and ECG announce planned power interruption in Central Region on October 24
The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have announced a planned maintenance exercise that will affect power supply to several communities in the Central Region on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
According to a joint statement from the two utility companies, the scheduled maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to upgrade transmission infrastructure, enhance system reliability, and prevent unplanned outages across the region.
In the Ekumfi District, the areas to be affected include:
Ekumfi Asaman, Ekumfi Egyankwaa, Ekumfi Otuam, Ekumfi Egyabenkwaa, Ekumfi Kontankora, Ekumfi Etseebaadu, Ekumfi Rabbi, Ekumfi Immuna, Ekumfi Safra Mpoano, Ekumfi Safra Kokodo, Ekumfi Owufa, and surrounding communities.
Similarly, in parts of the Gomoa District, the following areas will experience power interruptions between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.:
Gomoa Brofeyedu, Gomoa Oguan, Gomoa Antseadze, Gomoa Odumasi, Gomoa Manso, Gomoa Kyerenkwanta, Gomoa Obiri, Gomoa Amanful, Gomoa Formanya, Gomoa Kyeren, Gomoa Ngyeresi, Gomoa Brofo, Gomoa Sampa, Gomoa Adaa, Gomoa Ohuan, and their surrounding environs.
GRIDCo and ECG explained that the planned maintenance exercise aims to strengthen the power transmission network, ensure consistent and efficient power delivery, and reduce the likelihood of sudden outages caused by ageing infrastructure or technical faults.
The companies assured residents that all efforts have been made to minimise the impact of the exercise.
“Power will be restored promptly upon completion of the maintenance works,” the statement added.
Both organisations apologised for any inconvenience the temporary power outage may cause and urged affected customers to take necessary precautions and plan their activities accordingly during the scheduled period.
The power utilities reiterated their commitment to providing safe, stable, and reliable electricity to support homes, businesses, and institutions across the Central Region and the country at large.
