The Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority, Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe, has underscored the importance of a newly inaugurated LPG vessel, describing the investment as a major boost to Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Mr. Tamakloe noted that the development would strengthen the country’s liquefied petroleum gas supply chain and enhance efficiency within the industry.

He also explained that the government’s decision to rename the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition reflects a clear policy direction by John Dramani Mahama to steer the country toward a more sustainable and environmentally responsible energy future.

According to him, the move demonstrates the government’s commitment to balancing energy development with environmental protection as Ghana advances its long-term energy transition agenda.

Mr. Tamakloe further noted that even before the government’s green transition policy became widely known, Sahara Energy had anticipated the need for strategic investments in the sector.

He said the company’s decision to invest in Ghana’s petroleum downstream industry through the LPG vessel demonstrates confidence in the country’s energy market and contributes to strengthening the infrastructure needed to support energy security.
