NPA hosts CEOs of downstream petroleum sector at strategic breakfast meeting
The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has hosted Chief Executive Officers within Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector to an exclusive breakfast meeting in Accra aimed at strengthening stakeholder engagement and promoting strategic growth within the industry.
The high-level engagement brought together key industry players, regulators, and government officials to discuss measures to improve the regulatory environment, deepen collaboration, and enhance the long-term sustainability of the petroleum downstream sector.
The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, and the Deputy Minister, Mr. Richard Gyan-Mensah, participated in the meeting alongside executives of the NPA.
Leading the Authority’s delegation, the Chief Executive of the NPA, Mr. Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, was joined by Deputy Chief Executive Dr. Sheila Addo and members of the Authority’s Executive Committee.
Addressing participants, Mr. Tameklo acknowledged the impact of ongoing geopolitical tensions and conflicts in parts of the world on global energy markets and petroleum pricing.
Despite the challenges, he assured industry players that Ghana remains confident in its petroleum pricing policy framework and supply security arrangements.
According to him, recent government interventions on petroleum pricing were carefully implemented with due consideration to the operational realities and sustainability of businesses within the sector.
“Government interventions over the past two windows — GHS2.00 per litre on diesel and GHp36 per litre on petrol — and the next two windows, including GHS1.07 per litre on diesel, were well thought through with the risks to your businesses very well considered,” he stated.
For his part, Energy and Green Transition Minister Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor reaffirmed government’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted supply of petroleum products to support economic growth and national development.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for industry leaders to network and deliberate on practical strategies to strengthen Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.
At the end of the engagement, participants agreed on a number of measures aimed at sustaining growth, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing the resilience of the industry.
