NPA warns against illegal storage and trade of petroleum products

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has issued a strong warning to individuals and businesses engaged in the illegal storage and trading of petroleum products, urging them to comply with the country’s petroleum regulations.
In a statement, the Authority reminded the public that such activities violate the provisions of the NPA Act of Parliament (Act 691, 2005), which governs the importation, storage, distribution, and sale of petroleum products in Ghana.
The NPA cautioned that offenders risk facing strict sanctions, including fines, closure of facilities, and possible prosecution.
It further emphasised its commitment to enforcing the law and protecting the petroleum downstream industry from practices that endanger lives, compromise safety, and distort fair market competition.
The Authority, therefore, encouraged all stakeholders to ensure compliance with the established regulatory framework and warned that it would intensify monitoring exercises nationwide to clamp down on illegal operations.
