President John Dramani Mahama has cut the sod for the construction of a 24-hour model market in Dormaa Ahenkro in the Bono Region, marking a key step in the implementation of his administration’s 24-hour economy agenda.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Mahama assured Ghanaians that all 261 districts across the country will benefit from similar 24-hour model markets aimed at boosting local economies and expanding employment opportunities.

The Dormaa Ahenkro project, which forms part of the President’s ongoing “Resetting Ghana” tour, is designed as a comprehensive economic hub. It will feature essential facilities including a police station, fire station, clinic, model school, restaurants, a bank, and other key amenities to support round-the-clock commercial activity.

President Mahama emphasised that the initiative is intended to decentralise economic growth and bring modern infrastructure closer to communities, particularly in underserved areas.

He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that every district benefits from the 24-hour economy policy, describing the model markets as a cornerstone of efforts to revitalise Ghana’s economy.
