Prof. John Gatsi chairs reconstituted Energy Commission board

The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Mr. John Abdulai Jinapor (MP), on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, has inaugurated the newly reconstituted Board of the Energy Commission.
Speaking at the ceremony, the minister highlighted the crucial role of the Commission in shaping Ghana’s energy future.
He noted that the country is at a pivotal stage in its energy transition and outlined key priorities, including private sector participation in electricity distribution, the promotion of gas as a transition fuel, the implementation of a liquid fuel-to-gas swap, competitive procurement of new generation capacity, and the standardisation of power purchase agreements.
“The Commission is the principal advisor to the government on power issues,” Mr. Jinapor said.
“Your decisions will be pivotal in enhancing the progress made so far, addressing current challenges, and capitalising on emerging opportunities in the power sector.”
He charged the new board to provide “strategic direction and visionary leadership,” urging them to be bold, innovative, transparent, and committed to good governance in steering the energy sector.
Board Chairman, Prof. John Gartchie Gatsi, expressed appreciation to President Mahama for the confidence reposed in the team.
He assured the Minister that the board would work in alignment with the government’s energy priorities and deliver on its mandate.
