Afua Asantewaa clarifies marriage status: “Separated, not divorced”
Ghanaian media star and two-time Guinness World Record challenger, Afua Asantewaa, has publicly addressed rumours about her personal life
In a candid TikTok Live chat with Fire Oja, Afua explained that she and her husband, Kofi Owusu Aduonum, are currently living apart but remain legally married.
“We are separated, not divorced,” she clarified, putting months of speculation to rest.
The couple had previously been celebrated for their apparent closeness, especially during Afua’s rise to fame in 2023 when she attempted her first Guinness World Record sing-a-thon.
Their partnership was admired by fans and followers alike.
However, after her second record attempt in 2024, social media posts and cryptic messages sparked curiosity about the state of their relationship.
During the conversation, Fire Oja highlighted how relationships can evolve over time, particularly when one partner is more expressive than the other.
Afua resonated with this insight, acknowledging the realities of maintaining a connection under public scrutiny.
She also opened up about the challenges outspoken individuals face in relationships.
“When you’re outspoken, and your partner is more reserved, people often assume you’re the cause of tension,” she explained.
“They don’t see the full picture.”
Afua stressed that public perception rarely reflects the truth.
She noted that while audiences may judge based on appearances, the reality behind closed doors can be very different.
