Akufo-Addo isn't my favourite too but destroying his statue is 'not cool', could trigger 'big conflict': Captain Planet (4X4)
Rapper Captain Planet of the Hiplife trio 4X4 has decried the vandalising of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s statue at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital roundabout, Takoradi, Western Region.
It came light today, Monday, January 13, 2025, that the said statue had been smashed, with the head severed and lying on the ground, and the rest of it barely remaining on the pedestal.
Recently, police announced they were looking for an individual who had earlier damaged the left leg of the statue.

When the statue was unveiled by President Akufo-Addo in November 2024, he came under serious criticism from the citizenry and political class. On social media, he was nicknamed Nebuchadnezzar, accused of tyranny and self-aggrandisement.
In Captain Planet’s view, it was “not cool” to destroy the statue.
He said such actions could foment “a big conflict” between people of the two major political parties in Ghana; the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The Obi Agye Obi Girl hitmaker advocated political tolerance, buttressing though Nana Akufo-Addo was not a favourite of his, he did not see why an image of his should be vandalised.
“You must not like Nana Addo but destroying his statue is not cool. We have a new favourite but bear in mind that he was also some people’s favourite and this can bring a big conflict between the 2 parties. He’s not your favourite, he’s not my favourite, but he’s someone’s favourite,” Captain Planet wrote on X, Monday.
He attached to his post the following images of the broken statue.
