Yvonne Okoro pays emotional tribute to Beverly Afaglo as colleagues mourn actress' death
Actress Yvonne Okoro has shared a heartbreaking tribute to late Nollywood actress Beverly Afaglo, revealing the deep bond they shared and the support Beverly offered her during some of the most difficult moments of her life.
Beverly, who passed away on May 24, 2026, after battling cancer, died just four days before her 43rd birthday. Her death at age 42 has left colleagues, friends, and fans across the entertainment industry in mourning.
In an emotional Instagram post, Yvonne described Beverly as the very first friend she made in the movie industry and praised her for her unwavering kindness and generosity.
According to Yvonne, Beverly consistently looked out for her from the beginning of their friendship, often picking her up from home and ensuring she returned safely without ever complaining.
Reflecting on the pain of losing her friend, Yvonne revealed that Beverly was one of the few people who stood by her when her family home was destroyed by fire. She recalled how Beverly regularly checked on her wellbeing and encouraged her to remain strong during the difficult period.
"When my family home burnt to the ground, Bev constantly checked in on me. Even when I couldn't answer her calls, she would send messages reminding me to take things one day at a time," Yvonne wrote.
The actress said Beverly repeatedly assured her of her support, telling her she would always be available whenever she was ready to talk.
What has made the loss even more painful for Yvonne is the realization that Beverly was quietly battling cancer at the same time she was supporting others through their own struggles.
Yvonne expressed admiration for her late friend’s strength, noting that despite dealing with her illness, Beverly continued to offer love, encouragement, and comfort to those around her.
"I am absolutely gutted," she wrote, before thanking Beverly for her friendship, warmth, kindness, and the positive impact she had on her life.
Yvonne also expressed regret that she did not thank Beverly more often and wished her friend had allowed others to support her through her health battle in the same way she had always supported them.
The touching tribute has resonated with many fans and industry colleagues, adding to the growing outpouring of grief following Beverly's passing. Across social media, fellow actors, friends, and admirers have continued to share memories of the actress, celebrating her generosity, resilience, and the lasting mark she left on those who knew her.
Yvonne concluded her message with a prayer for Beverly's soul, saying she would always cherish the memories they shared and the friendship that defined much of their journey in the entertainment industry.
