11 dead, several injured in grisly Ofankor Barrier crash
At least 11 people have been killed and several others injured in a tragic road crash at the Ofankor Barrier in the Greater Accra Region.
The accident occurred at about 4 AM on Thursday, August 13, 2026, when a tipper truck collided with a Sprinter bus on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.
According to ADO1 Alex King Nartey, who spoke to the media, several passengers were trapped under the wreckage after the collision, which left the Sprinter severely damaged.
A female victim, whose legs were reportedly severed in the crash, was among those evacuated from the scene by ambulance.
The injured victims were rushed to hospital for medical attention as emergency crews worked to rescue those trapped in the wreckage.
The crash also disrupted traffic flow along the highway, with a section of the road temporarily restricted to allow emergency personnel to operate at the scene.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
