Abronye DC rearrested over alleged false publications and offensive conduct
The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has been rearrested by security officials in connection with ongoing investigations into alleged misinformation and offensive public statements.
The latest arrest comes just weeks after outspoken politician Kwame Baffoe was granted bail in connection with the same case.
Abronye DC was first arrested on Monday, April 13, over allegations of offensive conduct, publication of false information and comments believed to be capable of causing fear and panic among the public. After his initial arrest, he was later released on bail as investigations continued.
However, security authorities have now rearrested the politician as investigators deepen probes into the matter. Although officials are yet to provide full details surrounding the latest arrest, sources close to the investigation say the action forms part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to tackle the spread of alleged false information and inflammatory public statements considered a threat to public order.
Authorities have not yet indicated whether additional charges will be brought against him or the exact circumstances that led to the latest arrest.
