W/R: Deputy Health Minister donates medical supplies to health facilities in Sekondi-Takoradi
The Deputy Minister of Health and Member of Parliament for Essikado-Ketan in the Western Region, Dr Grace Ayensu Danquah, in collaboration with the GIZ Aya Integrity Healthcare Initiative, has donated medical supplies to selected health facilities within the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA).
The donation exercise, held on Monday, May 11, 2026, forms part of efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery and support the government’s recently launched Free Primary Healthcare programme.
Speaking before the presentation, Dr. Ayensu Danquah said government’s primary healthcare policy places strong emphasis on the early detection and treatment of Non-Communicable Diseases to prevent them from progressing to advanced stages.
She noted that improving access to quality healthcare at the primary level remains a key priority of government and commended the GIZ Aya Integrity Healthcare Initiative for supporting efforts to improve healthcare services in the metropolis.
According to her, partnerships between government and development organisations are critical in strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring that communities receive timely medical attention.
Beneficiary facilities included the Western Regional Central Medical Stores, Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital, Sekondi Zongo CHPS Compound, Essikado District Hospital, as well as other primary healthcare facilities across the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly.
Health officials and stakeholders expressed appreciation for the support, describing the donation as a timely intervention that would help improve healthcare delivery and patient care within the metropolis.
