The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kofreze Construction and Engineering Limited, Frederick Korankye, has expressed frustration over what he describes as the continued encroachment of illegal miners on his concession at Wassa Dadieso in the Amenfi East Municipality.

According to Mr Korankye, repeated invasions by illegal miners have disrupted operations on the concession and caused damage to assets despite efforts to seek intervention from state institutions.

Speaking in an interview, he said he had exhausted available legal channels and warned that the situation could escalate if authorities fail to act.

"I am tired, and I cannot contain this anymore. The only option left is to take the law into our own hands and retaliate against these attacks. If this continues, it is going to end in bloodshed," he said.

Mr Korankye stated that his company had invested significant resources in securing and maintaining its licensed concession but continues to face challenges from illegal mining activities.

He said petitions had been submitted to the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, the Minerals Commission, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and National Security, but claimed that the interventions had not produced a lasting solution.

According to him, local law enforcement agencies have also been unable to curb the activities of the illegal miners.

"We report them to the Amenfi East Municipal Chief Executive and the police, but the attacks keep happening. The police arrest them and release them in no time. This systemic failure is destroying my business," he said.

Mr Korankye appealed to President John Dramani Mahama and the leadership of the Ghana Police Service to intervene and help prevent the situation from deteriorating further.

He called for increased protection for concession holders and stronger enforcement measures against illegal mining activities in the area.

The allegations have not yet received responses from the Amenfi East Municipal Assembly, the Ghana Police Service, or the other institutions mentioned by Mr Korankye.
