Adamus Resources Limited says it will take legal steps to contest the government’s decision to revoke its mining leases, arguing that the process breached provisions of Ghana’s mining laws.

The company’s position follows the decision by Lands and Natural Resources Minister Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah on Monday, August 10, 2026, to maintain the earlier cancellation of its mining lease.

Mr Buah announced the decision during a visit to the Adamus Mine at Salman in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region.

The Minister said the decision was taken after a Ministerial Review Committee examined appeals submitted by the mining company and found that most of the breaches identified in an earlier assessment had been established.

He subsequently directed the Minerals Commission to assume administrative control of the mine.

However, in a statement issued on Wednesday, August 12, Adamus Resources said it was disappointed by the outcome and challenged the legality of the process used to revoke its mineral rights.

The company contended that the revocation did not follow the procedures required under the Minerals and Mining Act, 2006 (Act 703).

Adamus also rejected the allegations of regulatory breaches against it, describing them as baseless claims that were deliberately constructed to strip the company of its mining rights.

It further accused the Lands Minister of exercising his powers improperly and failing to adhere to the legal framework governing the revocation of mining leases.

The company said it is currently considering its options and will disclose the specific legal measures it intends to pursue in the coming days.

The planned challenge could set the stage for a legal dispute between Adamus Resources and the government over control of the mine and the validity of the lease revocation.
