Residents and traders in Assin Foso are expected to benefit from improved trading conditions following the official sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a modern 24-Hour Economy Market by the Assin Central Municipal Assembly.

The project, which is expected to enhance commercial activities and stimulate local economic growth, is designed to provide a modern and secure marketplace capable of accommodating a large number of traders while creating new business opportunities.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Municipal Chief Executive for Assin Central, Alhaji Gariba Adams, said the project reflects the Assembly's commitment to improving infrastructure and creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

He noted that the market will feature modern facilities, including a police station, fire service post, health clinic, kindergarten, sanitation facilities, and spacious trading areas to ensure safety, convenience, and efficient business operations.

The MCE further assured traders and residents that the Assembly would closely monitor the project to ensure it is completed on schedule and to the highest standard for the benefit of the municipality.

The contractor, Mr Isaac Kofi Aseidu of Icole Construction Company, said the project has been designed to meet the needs of the fast-growing commercial town of Assin Foso. He explained that the market will have designated sections for various categories of goods and services, helping to improve organization, ease congestion, and provide a more conducive environment for trading.

According to him, construction is expected to be completed within three years. He also assured residents that the project would create employment opportunities by prioritizing the engagement of local labour throughout the construction period, thereby providing jobs for many young people within the municipality.

Traditional authorities have also welcomed the initiative. The Dwentoahen of the Afutuakwa Traditional Area, Barima Kwakye Ampem II, commended the government and the Assin Central Municipal Assembly for bringing the long-awaited project to Assin Foso.

He appealed to residents and traders to cooperate with the contractor and support the construction process to ensure the timely completion of the market.

The chief expressed confidence that the new facility would boost commerce, attract more investment, create employment opportunities, and contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of the Assin Central Municipality.

When completed, the 24-Hour Economy Market is expected to become a major commercial hub, providing a safer, more organized, and business-friendly environment for traders while supporting the government's vision of promoting local economic development and sustainable job creation in the municipality.
