'Democracy Under Attack': Suspend all Greater Accra campaign activities - NPP to aspirants
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has directed all aspirants campaigning in the Greater Accra Region to temporarily suspend their campaign activities on August 5 and 6 to support the party's planned "Democracy Under Attack" demonstration.
In a press release dated August 4, 2026, the party said the directive was issued by its National Steering Committee.
"Leadership is calling on all aspirants currently campaigning across the Greater Accra Region to temporarily suspend their campaign activities on the 5th and 6th of August, 2026, and join in mobilising support for the upcoming 'Democracy Under Attack' demonstration," the statement said.
The party further instructed regional, constituency and polling station executives in Greater Accra to work closely to ensure maximum turnout for the protest.
According to the statement, the demonstration will take place on Thursday, August 6, 2026, beginning at 5:00 a.m., with participants expected to assemble at the Supreme Court.
The NPP also appealed to members taking part in the demonstration to remain peaceful, disciplined and orderly throughout the event.
The statement was signed by the party's General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong.
