Awutu Senya East MCE pledges action to improve sanitation in Kasoa

The Municipal Chief Executive for the Awutu Senya East Municipality in the Central Region, Seth Bamni, has pledged to intensify measures aimed at improving sanitation across the municipality.

The commitment follows a community clean-up exercise held in Kasoa, during which residents and local officials cleared choked gutters and removed heaps of refuse along major roads.

Speaking after the exercise, Mr. Bamni expressed concern about what he described as the negative attitude of some residents toward sanitation, particularly commercial drivers who dump refuse along sections of the Kasoa–Winneba Highway and in drainage systems, thereby worsening environmental conditions.

He urged residents to adopt responsible waste disposal practices and comply with sanitation regulations to help maintain a clean and healthy environment.

The MCE warned that individuals who violate sanitation laws would face sanctions, stressing the Assembly’s determination to enforce regulations aimed at protecting public health.

Participants in the clean-up exercise, including Assembly Members, sanitation officers and volunteers, also called for stronger collaboration among residents and authorities, as well as strict enforcement of sanitation laws to address persistent sanitation challenges in Kasoa.
