Former Vice President and NPP flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has been commended for his exemplary conduct at the installation of the new Regent of Dagbon in Yendi last Friday.

Dr Bawumia led a party delegation to the ceremony and delivered a powerful address in Dagbani that was widely praised by the gathering and beyond.

Many people have since commended Dr Bawumia for his touching tribute to the late Ya-Na and his call on both the Regent and subjects to uphold the peace, unity, and progress of Dagbon.

Social commentator Owula E. T. Mangorttey, in an open letter, has praised Dr Bawumia for what he described as his "exemplary conduct" at the event.

He commended him for leading a unifying NPP delegation and for delivering a moving address that was fitting for the occasion.

"In a moment of national significance, the largest opposition party stood firmly with the government and the people of Dagbon to celebrate peace," Owula Mangorttey wrote. 

"What resonated most deeply was your address in the local dialect. By speaking directly to the people in their own language, you bridged the gap between high office and the grassroots.”

"The speech was warm, culturally grounded, and it won you significant applause from sections of the crowd. That is the language of leadership that builds trust. Your Excellency, in the midst of partisan politics, your decision to show up with unity, respect for tradition, and cultural humility set a standard for political leadership in Ghana,” he added.

Owula Mangorttey further stated that Dr Bawumia demonstrated that the peace and progress of Dagbon, and of northern Ghana, transcends party lines.

"The North saw a son return home not as a politician, but as a statesman. Ghana saw an opposition leader choose nation over party.”
