Traditional authorities of Odupong Ofaakor and Kasoa have expressed strong support for plans by the Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly to redevelop sections of the Kasoa Old Market and adjoining spaces beneath the overpass.

The chiefs have rejected claims by some petty traders that the project was imposed without consultation, describing the allegations as misleading and unfounded.

According to the Nananom, the Assembly engaged them before the project was announced and later held discussions with Trader Associations to explain the objectives and benefits of the redevelopment initiative.

They indicated that, having carefully reviewed the proposal as custodians of the land, they are convinced the project will significantly contribute to the modernisation of Kasoa and improve commercial infrastructure within the municipality.

The traditional leaders also expressed disappointment over a press conference organised by a group of traders opposing the project, urging them to refrain from actions that could undermine efforts aimed at improving the town.

Meanwhile, a group known as the Concerned Traders has also thrown its support behind the redevelopment plan.

The group said traders affected by the project will be temporarily relocated to a safer location and will be given priority to return to the market once construction is completed.

They added that the Municipal Assembly has assured traders of a fair and orderly relocation process.

The redevelopment project is expected to enhance the functionality of the market area and contribute to the broader development of Kasoa as a major commercial hub.
