Cabinet approves visa waiver for Maldives, Zambia, and Antigua & Barbuda
Ghana's Cabinet has approved new visa waiver agreements with the Maldives, Zambia, and Antigua and Barbuda.
The announcement was made by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, on Wednesday.
The agreements apply to all passport categories, including ordinary, service, and diplomatic documents. Under the new arrangement, citizens of these three countries and Ghanaians can travel between the nations for up to 30 days per trip without requiring a visa.

Participating Countries: Maldives, Zambia, and Antigua and Barbuda.
Duration of Stay: Maximum of 30 days per visit.
Passport Coverage: All categories (Ordinary, Service, and Diplomatic).
Next Steps: The approvals are set to be presented to Parliament for formal ratification.
Strengthening the ghanaian passport
Minister Ablakwa noted that these agreements are part of a broader diplomatic effort to increase the value and mobility of the Ghanaian passport.
He emphasised that as the government continues to negotiate more waivers, it is simultaneously enhancing the security protocols surrounding the issuance of national passports.
The move is expected to foster closer bilateral ties, facilitate easier travel for business and tourism, and promote cultural exchange between Ghana and these partner nations across Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean.
