President John Dramani Mahama, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education Ghana, has announced plans to establish a new College of Education in the Jomoro Constituency of the Western Region as part of efforts to expand access to teacher training.

The proposed institution is expected to increase opportunities for prospective teachers, particularly in the Western Region, while easing pressure on existing colleges across the country.

The announcement forms part of the government’s broader “Resetting Ghana” agenda, which also includes upgrading infrastructure at existing Colleges of Education to improve teaching and learning conditions nationwide.

According to the President,  the establishment of the college in Jomoro is likely to attract students from across the region and beyond, while boosting local economic activity and positioning the constituency as an emerging hub for academic development.

Meanwhile, concerns about the state of roads in the constituency have been acknowledged by authorities.

Member of Parliament for the area, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, is said to be engaging relevant stakeholders to ensure that key road infrastructure projects are prioritised.

Government maintains that efforts to address infrastructure challenges, both in education and transport, are ongoing, with assurances that residents will be updated as progress is made.
