The Ghana Education Service (GES) has approved the payment of salary arrears owed to eligible staff following clearance granted by the Ministry of Finance.

In a circular issued by the Acting Deputy Director-General (Management Services), Prof. Smile Dzisi (Mrs.), GES indicated that the approval covers arrears accrued between August 2024 and November 2025.

The directive follows a communication from the Ministry of Finance to the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department authorising the processing of the payments.

According to GES, the arrears will be disbursed in five instalments in line with an approved schedule designed to ensure orderly payment.

Under the arrangement, beneficiaries are expected to receive payments across several months beginning May 2026, with subsequent instalments scheduled for June, July, and August 2026, each covering four months of arrears.

The Service has instructed all Regional Directors to disseminate the information to Heads of Schools to ensure that eligible staff are duly informed about the development.

GES noted that the move forms part of efforts to settle outstanding obligations and improve staff welfare across the education sector.

The announcement has been copied to key stakeholders within the Ministry of Education, the GES Council, and senior management of the Service for coordination and implementation.
