Charles Amissah’s family welcomes committee findings, demands sanctions for those responsible
The family of late engineer Charles Amissah has expressed satisfaction with the findings of the committee that investigated the circumstances surrounding his death, while calling for disciplinary action against persons found responsible.
Speaking on the Channel One Newsroom on Wednesday, May 6, Dr Matilda Amissah, sister of the deceased, said the release of the “No Bed Syndrome” report was emotionally difficult for the family but represented an important step toward justice and accountability.
She noted that revisiting the details of her brother’s death had reopened painful memories, but commended the investigative committee for what she described as a diligent and professional effort.
Dr Amissah praised committee chairman Agyeman Badu Akosa and his team for their commitment to uncovering the facts surrounding the case.
She also acknowledged the role of the Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, and the Ministry of Health for responding swiftly and treating the matter with the seriousness it deserved.
The family’s reaction follows the publication of the committee’s report, which concluded that Charles Amissah’s death after a hit-and-run incident earlier this year may have been avoided if timely medical care had been provided.
The findings have reignited public debate over emergency healthcare delivery in Ghana and intensified calls for reforms and accountability within the health sector.
