DVLA boss praised for hands-on leadership after road accident at Essipong junction
The Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has been widely praised for demonstrating exceptional leadership and humanity after personally intervening in a road traffic accident at Essipong Junction on Tuesday night.
The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m., just after the Essipong Junction, where a serious head-on collision had brought traffic to a standstill.
Eyewitnesses say motorists and bystanders were unsure how to respond to the situation before the arrival of emergency services.
According to witnesses, the DVLA Boss, who happened to be passing through the area, stopped at the scene and immediately took charge of traffic control and coordination efforts.
“He didn’t just check on the situation. He took full command,” an eyewitness said. “Before he arrived, people were just standing around, not knowing what to do.”
In a remarkable display of hands-on leadership, the DVLA Chief Executive reportedly stepped into the road himself, directing traffic in the dark to ensure the safe movement of vehicles.
He is said to have halted all cars and heavy-duty trucks to allow a towing vehicle to swiftly clear the accident scene and restore traffic flow.
The intervention helped prevent further accidents and eased congestion in the area, drawing admiration from motorists and onlookers.
Observers described the act as a refreshing example of leadership beyond official titles, noting that the DVLA Boss demonstrated a strong sense of public duty and compassion.
Many have since commended him for leading by example and putting public safety first, describing the gesture as true leadership in action.
