Dr Joseph Siaw Agyepong, Chief Executive Officer of the Jospong Group of Companies, has demanded an immediate retraction and apology from an online media outlet over what his lawyers describe as a defamatory publication.

In a letter issued by his solicitors, Atiwa Chambers, the business executive rejected claims made in a March 4, 2026 publication captioned “Ex-COCOBOD chiefs finally face criminal investigations – Report.”

According to the lawyers, the story alleged that some procurement deals were awarded to Dr. Agyepong by the previous administration of the Ghana Cocoa Board led by Joseph Boahen Aidoo.

The publication reportedly stated that Dr. Agyepong, founder of the Jospong Group and owner of Accra-based Metro TV, had benefited from procurement arrangements under the former COCOBOD administration.

However, the lawyers insisted that neither Dr. Agyepong nor any of his affiliated companies were beneficiaries of contracts under the previous COCOBOD administration and that he is not under any criminal investigation.

The legal team further argued that the publication, which included Dr. Agyepong’s photograph alongside others, created the impression that he was implicated in financial irregularities that had caused loss to the state.

According to the letter, the claims have gravely damaged the reputation of the businessman both locally and internationally.

“Our client states that the news item published online was not only misconceived and mischievous but also defamatory and a calculated attempt to disparage him,” the lawyers said.

They also highlighted Dr. Agyepong’s contributions to national development, noting that through more than 40 subsidiary companies under the Jospong Group, he has created employment for over 200,000 people and supported numerous community development initiatives across Ghana.

The lawyers have therefore demanded that the media organisation immediately remove the article from its website, social media platforms and digital archives.

They also requested a full and unqualified retraction and apology to be published within three days of receiving the letter, in a position as prominent as the original publication.

Failure to comply with the demand, the lawyers warned, would compel their client to initiate legal proceedings in court to protect his reputation.
