The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has requested nine years of financial and operational records from Sarkodie Baffour Awuah and Partners, a law firm where Manhyia South Member of Parliament, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, is a senior partner.

The request forms part of ongoing investigations into allegations of criminal conspiracy, causing financial loss to SIC Savings and Loans, money laundering and possible tax-related offences among other suspected crimes.

In a letter dated October 30, 2026, EOCO invoked Section 19 of the Economic and Organised Crime Office Act, 2010 (Act 804), to demand documents and information from the law firm to assist its investigations.

The Office is seeking the firm's audited financial statements covering 2017 to 2025 as well as evidence of tax payments made to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

The requested tax records include payments relating to corporate tax, Value Added Tax (VAT), statutory levies and withholding tax.

EOCO has also requested a comprehensive list of all bank accounts operated by the firm together with corresponding bank statements covering the nine-year period.

In addition, the law firm is expected to provide copies of its operating permit issued by the relevant local assembly and evidence of its renewal.

The Office has further requested details of employees working with the firm, if any.

The firm has been given the firm until November 6, 2026 to submit all the requested documents and information to EOCO.
