GFL General Secretary criticises Interior Ministry’s security recruitment process

The General Secretary of the Ghana Federation of Labour, Mr Abraham Koomson, has expressed concern over what he describes as a poorly managed recruitment exercise by the Ministry of the Interior.

Speaking in an interview with Classfmonline, Mr. Koomson criticised the rollout of the ongoing recruitment for security institutions, saying the process has been disorganised and created unnecessary expectations among thousands of applicants.

According to him, the situation appears to stem from a misjudgement of the number of personnel required for employment, noting that about 500,000 application forms were reportedly sold for the exercise.

Mr. Koomson suggested that the large number of applicants compared with the limited available positions has created frustration among many young people seeking employment in the security services.

He also stressed the need for the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) to put in place stronger structures that would address the concerns of the youth and party foot soldiers.

Mr. Koomson noted that establishing such mechanisms would help manage expectations and consolidate the support base of the party, particularly among young people who remain key to its grassroots strength.
