Abraham Koomson commends Sammy Gyamfi, urges stronger grassroots structures in NDC
The Secretary-General of the Ghana Federation of Labour, Abraham Koomson, has commended the Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod, Sammy Gyamfi, for engaging grassroots members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and listening to their concerns.
Speaking on Tema-based Ahotor FM, Mr. Koomson described the initiative as commendable but stressed the need for a more structured and sustainable approach to grassroots engagement within the party.
He noted that maintaining a strong connection with grassroots supporters is essential to ensuring that party members understand the NDC’s policies, decisions and overall direction.
Mr. Koomson, however, cautioned against over-reliance on political appointees to address the concerns of party supporters, warning that such an approach could create avenues for corruption.
He instead called on the party leadership to establish effective institutional structures that promote fairness, transparency and efficiency in responding to the needs of its base.
He further emphasised the importance of job creation, urging the government to prioritise sustainable employment opportunities, particularly for the youth.
According to him, empowering young people through jobs and clear development policies would reduce dependence on political connections and strengthen public confidence in government, while contributing to national development.
