Gbawe Kwatei family rejects ‘self-imposed’ leadership claims, affirms installation of new head of family
The Gbawe Kwatei Family in the Greater Accra Region has reaffirmed the installation of Nii Kpakpa Nkpa Quartey II as the legitimate head of the family, while rejecting claims by individuals allegedly attempting to assume the position without due process.
In a statement, the family dismissed assertions that Ayuba Kwatei Quartey had installed himself as head, insisting that he does not qualify under the customs and traditions governing the family’s leadership.
The family also refuted claims involving an individual identified as Kojo from Kwanyarko in the Central Region, who is said to have presented himself as a Djaasetse.
According to the family, no such person is recognised within its lineage or traditional structure.
A spokesperson, Solomon Nii Afutu Quartey, outlined the historical lineage of leadership within the family, citing past regents and substantive heads who have contributed to the development and stability of the Gbawe community.
He urged the public to disregard the claims of the self-acclaimed leaders and cautioned against engaging with them, stressing that they lack legitimacy.
The family reaffirmed that the recognised traditional authorities remain Nii Kpakpa Nkpa Quartey II as head of the family and Djaasetse, and Nii Boi Kojo II as the Gbawe Mantse.
