Ghana celebrates its rich cultural heritage on National Culture Day
Ghana's Minister of Tourism, Abla Djifa Gomashie, has emphasised the importance of culture in national development, highlighting the government's efforts to promote and protect the country's cultural sector.
Speaking at the 2026 Ghana Culture Day celebration, Madam Gomashie announced the upcoming launch of the reviewed Ghana Cultural Policy, aimed at strengthening the governance of cultural institutions and unlocking opportunities in the creative and cultural industries ¹.
The policy is expected to stimulate innovation, encourage entrepreneurship, and create meaningful jobs for the youth and unemployed individuals. Gomashie also appealed to stakeholders to support the ministry's efforts to revitalise the cultural space and repatriate stolen artefacts.
The celebration featured traditional drumming and dancing, with Gomashie praising the performance by Nidazi.
The event aimed to promote Ghana's diverse cultural traditions, including its languages, clothing styles, food, music, and festivals.
