Ghana’s new E-Visa system to process applications within 48 hours — Ablakwa
Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that visa applications submitted through Ghana’s newly introduced electronic visa platform will be processed within 48 hours.
Speaking at the launch of the e-Visa portal on Monday, May 25, 2026, the Minister said the digital platform is intended to simplify and accelerate visa acquisition for travellers seeking entry into Ghana.
According to him, applicants will no longer be required to physically visit Ghanaian embassies or consulates, as the entire process from application and payment to approval can now be completed online.
The portal allows travellers to submit supporting documents electronically and receive visa decisions within two days after completing the application process.
Mr. Ablakwa explained that the platform currently caters for tourist and business visa applications and is expected to improve convenience for travellers while boosting Ghana’s appeal as a destination for tourism and investment.
Government says the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to modernise immigration and consular services, reduce processing delays and improve efficiency while maintaining strict security and verification procedures.
