Dr Stanley Nelvis Glate, a senior lecturer at the Department of Marketing at the Ho Technical University and Chairman of the university’s chapter of the Technical University Teachers Association of Ghana (TUTAG), has declared his intention to contest the position of Volta Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Dr Glate, who made the declaration at the Volta Regional Press Centre, said his candidature is aimed at rebuilding the party’s grassroots structures, restoring confidence among members and repositioning the Regional Secretariat as an accessible and responsive institution.

He made the declaration under the theme, “Rebuilding the Grassroots, Restoring Hope, Reclaiming Glory”.

Addressing party delegates, constituency and branch executives, electoral area coordinators, youth and women groups, veterans and other supporters, Dr Glate said the NDC’s longstanding political dominance in the Volta Region could not, by itself, guarantee future electoral victories.

He said the party needed to strengthen its organisational structures, reconnect with its supporters, improve coordination and restore confidence at the grassroots to remain competitive.

“The time has come to rejuvenate the base,” he declared, stressing the strength and electoral fortunes of the party depend largely on the effectiveness of its grassroots’ structures.

Dr Glate pledged to build a Regional Secretariat anchored on transparency, accountability, accessibility and responsiveness.

He promised regular engagements with constituency and branch executives to identify their concerns, provide timely feedback and ensure that decisions and resources from the Regional Secretariat were communicated effectively.

According to him, his vision was to create an NDC Volta Region where every constituency felt valued, branches received the necessary support and activists felt heard and appreciated.

“We must strengthen communication between the Regional Secretariat and the constituencies. We must equip our structures with the information, coordination and support they need,” he said.

He also called for an early identification of challenges confronting the party at the grassroots, saying such challenges must be addressed collectively and transformed into opportunities for organisational growth.

Dr Glate further assured the Members of Parliament (MPs), Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), government appointees, constituency executives, branch executives and activists that his administration would work to ensure that no section of the party felt neglected.

“No MP must feel disrespected. No MMDCE or appointee must feel left out. No constituency must feel abandoned. No branch must feel forgotten. No committed activist must feel unappreciated,” he said.

He explained that the strength of the NDC did not reside solely in the Regional Secretariat but in the collective commitment of members across branches, electoral areas, constituencies and communities.

He therefore described his candidacy as an effort to build a stronger bridge between the Regional Secretariat and the grassroots.

The aspiring Regional Secretary called on the party members to unite around a shared vision of service, accountability and organisational renewal, stressing that the task ahead requires collective effort rather than individual ambition.

“Together, we shall restore confidence. Together, we shall strengthen our structures. Together, we shall inspire our activists. Together, we shall give hope to our constituencies."

Dr Glate added that the ultimate objective of his campaign is to strengthen the party’s organisational structures and position the NDC in the Volta Region for future electoral victories.

He emphasised that his campaign was not about an individual but about the grassroots, the party and the future of the NDC in the region.

“The grassroots deserve a voice. The constituencies deserve support. The NDC Volta Region deserves a Secretariat that works."

He declared his readiness to serve and urged the party delegates and members to support his campaign to rebuilding the grassroots, restoring hope and repositioning the party in the Volta Region.
