New Patriotic Party (NPP) communicator Dennis 'Miracles' Aboagye says he no longer feels safe expressing his views publicly, warning that he fears his outspoken nature could land him in trouble.

Speaking on JoyNews' PM Express on Wednesday, August 5, Miracles said he had even written to the Chief Justice over his concerns.

"That's why I'm speaking against it. I'm genuinely worried about it. I don't feel safe. I won't lie to you. I told you I've written to the Chief Justice. I personally, I don't feel safe," he said.

He said remaining silent was not an option for him because he enjoys discussing issues and engaging in public debate.

"Because I talk. I can't stop talking. I can't. I love to talk. I love to debate," he said.

Asked what specifically worried him, Miracles clarified he was afraid for his life but the problems his criticism could create for him.

"No, I feel my mouth will put me into trouble. That is what I feel," he said.

Miracles is currently under investigation by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) over allegations of financial misconduct amounting to GHS55 million. As part of the investigation, his bank accounts have been frozen, although he has denied any wrongdoing.

He stressed that freedom of expression is one of Ghana's most important democratic values and should be protected.

"If we don't have anything at all in Ghana, it is our free speech, it's our democracy, it's the fact that we are able to freely express ourselves without any fear of being targeted," he said.
