The Paramount Chief of Teshie, Gbetsoolo Nii Ashitey Akomfra III, has reaffirmed his commitment to peace and unity in the Teshie traditional area, disclosing his strategy of regular engagement with his people.

Speaking in an interview with Class Media Group after a community gathering, the Teshie Mantse explained that his engagement is part of a deliberate weekly program aimed at fostering understanding and peaceful coexistence.

“This is not the first time. I have chosen every Thursday to have a word with my people, to give them a goodwill message, give them advice on the way we should move our steps, the way we should raise ourselves," he said.

According to him, the Thursday gatherings are crucial because many of his subjects sometimes do not fully understand issues affecting the community. 

The forum therefore serves as an opportunity to explain matters, clear doubts and offer guidance.

"At times many of them don't understand some of the things, so in times like this we get time and explain things to them. If anybody has doubts or questions to ask, we give them the chance," he noted.

Nii Ashitey Akomfra III added that he is expecting lasting peace in the community and stressed unity is the key.

"The only thing I'm expecting is always, let's unite, let's unite, let's unite," he emphasised.

The Chief revealed that he has adopted a new strategy anchored on humility and fatherly dialogue.

"I have taken a strategy. I have to humble myself to all my people. As a father, it's not every advice you get in the house, but you have to talk humbly, amicably," he stated.

He also emphasised that he is ready to go to every corner where there is tension to personally plead for peace.

"Any place that I could see a problem, I will enter and I will beg them. I beg you guys, leave everything. Gradually, gradually, by talking from the heart, misbehaving will calm down," he said.

Nii Akomfra III further expressed optimism that if his approach is sustained, significant progress will be made.

"If everything goes on well, I can't get it 100%, but at least 70%, 80%, I have to force again. And through that, things will follow," he concluded.

The engagement comes at a time when the Teshie traditional area has been experiencing relative peace and calm, a development many have attributed to the Chief's inclusive leadership style.
