Injured BECE candidates return to exam hall after motorbike crash in Nkwanta South
Two candidates sitting the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region were involved in a motorbike crash while on their way to the examination centre but later returned to write their papers after receiving treatment.
The incident occurred as the students were travelling from their communities to the centre, at a time when security concerns in the area persist.
They were taken to St. Joseph Catholic Hospital for medical care and were subsequently transported to the examination centre to continue their exams.
Confirming the development in an interview with the media, the Municipal Director of Education, Jonathan Korsinah, said the situation might have been prevented if candidates had been accommodated closer to their centres.
Despite sustaining injuries, the affected students were able to rejoin their colleagues and complete their papers.
