The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has issued a strong warning that any personnel proven to have taken part in the reported attack on Class Media Group journalist, Samuel Addo, during the Kasoa New Market fire incident could be removed from the service.

According to available accounts, the reporter was allegedly subjected to physical harassment by some fire officers while reporting on a blaze that broke out at the market in the Central Region on Monday, January 5, 2026.

speaking to Nana Otu Darko on the Citizen Show on Acrra 100.5FM, the Head of Public Affairs at the GNFS, DOII Desmond Ackah, made it clear that the Service has zero tolerance for acts of aggression against members of the public, media practitioners, or other emergency workers.

He explained that termination remains the most severe disciplinary action available and would be applied if investigations establish wrongdoing. He assured the public that the outcome of such investigations would be made known.

DOII Ackah further stated that the GNFS is working closely with the Ghana Police Service to thoroughly examine the circumstances surrounding the incident, emphasizing that no officer involved would be protected if found culpable.

However, he also cautioned that should the allegations be proven untrue or deliberately aimed at damaging the reputation of the GNFS, the Service would not hesitate to pursue appropriate measures against the journalist involved.
