Kantanka family alleges Adwoa Safo plans to use toy instead of Apostle Kwadwo Safo's body at burial
Spokesperson for the Kantanka family, Nana Karikari has alleged that Sarah Adwoa Safo intends to use a toy instead of the body of her late father, Apostle Kwadwo Safo, during the burial rites at Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region.
"We have heard that Adwoa Safo will lay a toy in the bed instead of her late father's body," Nana Karikari said in an Accra FM interview.
The allegation comes amid an ongoing dispute over the burial of the Kristo Asafo founder.
Despite a High Court injunction restraining the funeral, preparations continued at Gomoa Mpota on Thursday with canopies, chairs, a stage and traditional drummers set up for the ceremony.
Subsequent footage from the funeral grounds showed scores of mourners seated with many others continuing to arrive.
Some attendees were seen wearing red T-shirts bearing the inscription, "Kantanka Never Dies".
Media reports from the scene also indicated that Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka's body had not been sighted.
A reporter on the ground also noted that representatives of both Adwoa Safo and her brother, Akofena, were absent from the venue, as at the time of filing the report hours ago, while individuals identifying themselves as family members from Kumasi said they were overseeing the funeral.
Members of the Kristo Asafo Mission at Dansoman told the reporter they believed the legal dispute over the burial could be addressed after the funeral.
Adwoa Safo has not publicly responded to Nana Karikari's allegation.
