The Kantanka family says it is considering legal action after former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo proceeded with the funeral of her late father, Apostle Prof. Emeritus Ing. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, despite an interim injunction issued by the Accra High Court.

The High Court last week granted a 10-day interim injunction restraining Adwoa Safo from proceeding with the funeral and burial arrangements following an application by the family amid a dispute over the late industrialist's estate and who has the legal authority to oversee his final rites.

Despite the order, the funeral went ahead as scheduled.

Speaking in a video sighted on Channel One TV, the Kantanka family's Secretary, Dr Philip Siaw Kissi, said the family would return to court over what it believes was a disregard for the court's order.

"We all know we have laws in Ghana. We went to court; we had an injunction that the funeral shouldn't go on, but our daughter decided to go ahead with the funeral."

Dr Kissi said the family intended to explain the circumstances to the court.

"Definitely, I know, we'll go to court to explain to the court what happened that our daughter did not adhere to the court order and continued to do the funeral."

He argued that court orders must be respected and enforced.

"I think it's high time the law should work and somebody should be set as an example. Other than that, people will continue to do otherwise in terms of court order."

Dr Kissi said the family's next steps would depend on legal advice.

"For now, the family, we are yet to see our counsel for advice. Whatever advice we get from our counsel, we'll not hesitate for you people to know."
