A faction of the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo's family aligned with his son, Nana Kwadwo Akofena Safo, says GH₵6 million has been budgeted for the funeral of the Kristo Asafo founder.

Speaking to the Ghana Yensom morning show on Accra FM, spokesperson Nana Karikari said, "The family has budgeted GH₵6 million for the funeral”.

This part of the Safo Kantanka family has been at the centre of the ongoing dispute over the burial arrangements and is opposed to the position taken by Apostle Kwadwo Safo's daughter, Sarah Adwoa Safo, who is determined to bury her father with a series of events from Thursday, July 30.

There is High Court injunction restraining the burial.

The funeral preparations, nevertheless, continued at Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region on Thursday with canopies, chairs, a stage and traditional drummers set up for the ceremony.

Footage from the funeral grounds showed scores of mourners already seated while many others continued to arrive. 

Some attendees wore red T-shirts bearing the inscription, 'Kantanka Never Dies'.

The burial has become the subject of a legal dispute between the faction aligned with Nana Kwadwo Akofena Safo and Sarah Adwoa Safo over the funeral arrangements for the late Kristo Asafo founder.
