The National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) has called on all National Service Personnel to participate in the National General Cleaning Exercise scheduled for Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11, 2026.

In a statement, NASPA said it had taken note of the Presidency's directive declaring the two days as National General Cleaning Days across the country.

The association urged personnel to take part in the exercise within their respective regions, districts, municipalities, institutions and communities of service.

According to NASPA, the exercise is intended to clean public spaces, clear choked gutters, remove refuse and reduce sanitation-related risks, particularly in flood-affected areas.

The association said National Service Personnel have a responsibility to demonstrate patriotism, discipline and commitment to community development through their participation.

NASPA also encouraged its regional, district and municipal executives to work with Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies, security agencies, institutional heads and waste management teams to ensure effective mobilisation and participation.

It further advised members to make themselves available for the exercise, bring appropriate cleaning tools where possible, and cooperate with the coordinating authorities.
